Lydia is one of our Sewing Assistant's where she focuses on label sewing and ribbons. Our Sewing Assistant's are crucial to G&G as sewing skills these days are hard to come by.
Meet our team - Lydia, Sewing Assistant
What does your job entail?
I am a sewing machinist which means I sew labels into the garments of people’s orders. Occasionally I ship out orders too, and go to the stock room to swap any clothes if they’re the wrong size etc.
What and where did you study?
I am currently in my gap year so have just completed my A-levels. I did French, Spanish, English Language and Psychology and am going to university to study linguistics.
What’s your favourite part about the job and working for G&G?
My absolute favourite thing about working for G&G is the people. Everyone is always so positive and uplifting, they genuinely make going to work and working fun:)

What was your dream job growing up?
I’ve always wanted to do something in the medical profession but I'm terrified of blood and needles... which clearly isn’t that helpful if you work in a hospital... so I think I’ll stick to languages!
What keeps you motivated?
If I’m ever lacking motivation I will listen to a playlist of good 2000s songs or a podcast. My favourite thing to listen to is Chris and Rosie Ramsay’s podcast because it is SO funny!
What are your 3 favourite garms from G&G?
I’d say my top three favourite garms are the navy LTD sweat, black simple 1/4 zip fleece, and the navy multi lines tee - the first thing I got from G&G!
What tv series are you currently watching?
I just finished watching Bridgerton and loved it! However my all time favourite show has to be Gavin and Stacey. I’ve visited the places where it was filmed as it’s not far from where I live and I even came first in a Gavin and Stacey pub quiz!
What’s your favourite food?
My favourite food is mashed potato... or any form of potato!
If you could be anywhere in the world right now where would you be?
During my gap year I was supposed to be travelling around Australia, but you can guess how that plan ended up! It’s a good thing I love my job!
