The Floral Design

With the success of our Floral Collection, we want to take you behind the scenes and chat with Maisie - our production staff member who designed the logo.

Maisie has a background in Fashion Design and graduated from Cardiff School of Art and Design last year. So evidently, the right woman for the job! We asked her a couple of questions to help understand the idea behind this new take on one of our classic designs.

The Design Process...

How did you create the design?

I started this project by sketching from original logos on my iPad, I used my images to draw petals and create my shapes, which I then took on to Illustrator and used an embroidery tool to create designs, this gave me a bit more flexibility to shuffle bits around and make small changes here and there.

How did the opportunity come around?

The opportunity came up because I asked for a small brief to add to my portfolio as a mini project over lockdown but I had no idea it would be used in a final collection, which is so exciting!

What inspired the floral design?

I have been loving delicate, nature inspired hand embroidery and even tried some small pieces at home. So when Maz said she was looking for some Spring/Summer pieces it seemed the perfect opportunity to get creative.

My inspiration came from our garden! I have been enjoying the spring sun over the last few weeks and have loved sitting outside surrounded by beautiful colours and flowers.
