In our new Behind the Lens series, we will explore the inspiration, detail, and craft it takes to bring our Goose & Gander collections to life. The Lucie & Luke collaboration is a dream for us. As longtime friends of the brand, it has been great to work with the couple on every touchpoint of the collection, from inception to execution.
For this collection we wanted to create a vintage inspired, sun-bleached look, inspired by Lucie & Luke’s love of surfing and their Cornish lifestyle. This throw-on approach to styling fits so well with our brand values, and we wanted to create an elevated everyday look that can be mix-and-match as a couple, or worn separately too.
Lucie & Luke worked very closely with our in-house design team to create this collection, leaning on versatile, oversized silhouettes and nostalgic branding in vintage washed colours, that feel as at home by the sea, as on the city streets.
The bold stripes and statement checks are a modern play on seaside classics, with Lucie & Luke’s lifestyle edge.
When bringing this collection to life, there seemed no place better than the beaches of Newquay, where Lucie discovered her love of surfing. The crashing Cornish waves serve as the perfect backdrop for these designs, and you can really see how pieces such as the All Weather Robe and Checkered Zip Tote can seamlessly fit into life on the beach.
Cornwall also has a huge resonance for Goose & Gander, as we just opened our third retail location in St Ives, and that relaxed, seaside way of living is something we want to reflect, not just in our designs, but also our community events.
For this collection, Lucie & Luke wanted to embody Cornish living through green washed-dyed pieces inspired by the colour of seaglass. Each piece is individually garment dyed for a naturally-faded vintage look, making each piece unique, but unmistakably Goose & Gander.
We’ve also expanded on our ever-growing knitwear collection for this launch. Each piece is designed and crafted in the UK with our signature Goose & Gander embroidery. They are designed as throw-on pieces that are perfect for transitional layering.
One of Lucie’s favourite pieces of the collection, and a brand new style for us, is the Checkered Off the Shoulder Sweatshirt. The bold print and raw edges update an otherwise classic sweatshirt to a modern surfwear staple.
